- Examine foundations of management, leadership, and the global perspective of the hospitality field.
- Analyze, understand, and demonstrate hospitality operations with a focus on sustainability, while gaining the skills needed to provide quality goods and exceptional services.
- Earn appropriate industry and technology certifications including hospitality computer applications required for employment in the hospitality industry.
- Appreciate and foster the role of diversity in the hospitality industry.
- Understand and apply effective legal and ethical strategies impacting the operation of hospitality businesses.
- Collect and analyze data, create reports, explain the financial implications of managerial decision-making.
- Communicate effectively and work collaboratively using written, oral, and nonverbal techniques including the use of technology in professional communications.
Career Outlook
Qualified candidates in this field are in high demand with rising wages and strong opportunities for growth. Students completing the degree could expect to enter the workforce in a hotel as a Front Desk Agent, Account Manager or Front of House Supervisor or in a restaurant as a Server or Dining Room Supervisor. Growth potential will lead to management positions.
