This program prepares students through lectures, laboratory activities and hospital-based clinical experience to become Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technicians. Students will acquire the skills and knowledge essential for working in a medical laboratory and performing tests that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and the maintenance of health.

Admission Requirements Advising Note
- All Medical Laboratory Technician students are required to: undergo a physical examination, complete the necessary immunization forms, including a three (3) dose Hepatitis B immunization series; carry malpractice and health insurance
- As a prerequisite for a clinical placement or internship this program requires that all students must undergo a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check and a Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) check. Upon Completion of This Concentration Graduates Will Be Able To:
- Collect and prepare clinical specimens for analysis.
- Operate laboratory instruments.
- Prepare a variety of diagnostic analyses according to prescribed methodology.
- Relate test results to other patient information to the extent required for understanding the analyses.
Career Outlook
Graduates of this program are eligible to take the CLT/MLT certification exam administered by the American Society of Clinical Pathology. Graduates are then qualified for employment in hospitals, clinics, and health maintenance organizations.
