CIT-264 IT Security


The goal of this course is to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of information technology security principles and implementation. You will learn about the technologies used, and principles involved in creating a secure computer network and enterprise environment, which includes networks, enterprise endpoints and application development, mobile, embedded, and specialized devices, cloud and virtualization, and wireless network security. You will learn about threat management and cybersecurity resources, the type of threats and attacks that may be used against a network, concepts of cryptography including PKI and other cryptographic protocols, authentication, and cybersecurity resiliency.  You will understand and apply threat intelligence, network assessments and defenses, security appliances and technologies, incident preparation, response, and investigation, and risk management and data privacy. Students will engage in practical, hands-on projects, case activities and online virtual labs help you put what you learn into real-world practice. Aside from learning the technologies involved in security, you will put into practice some of the daily tasks involved with managing and troubleshooting those technologies.  This course and the student learning outcomes are directly aligned to the CompTIA Security+ certification exam.
