NUR-120 Foundation of Patient Centered Care This course provides an introduction to nursing and roles of the nurse as well as professional related and patient care concepts. Emphasis is placed on the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to provide safe, quality care. It provides the framework for preparing students to perform a basic health assessment on adult patients including older adults. The theoretical foundation for basic assessment and skills is presented, and the student is given an opportunity to demonstrate these skills in the laboratory and clinical setting. An introduction to the nursing process provides a decision-making framework to assist students in developing effective clinical judgement. Additional expenses may include supplies, equipment and/or uniforms. Class Meets 7 hours lecture; 3 hours simulation lab; 6 hours clinical practice in selected health care facilities.
Prerequisites Acceptance into the nursing program; BIO-203 and ENG-111 Gen. Ed. Course No Mass Transfer Course No Credits: 10
