BIO-111 Food/Nutrition This course covers a study of plant and animal sources of human food, their nutritional values, and the way they are utilized by the body in health and disease. Topics include the selection of an adequate diet, evaluation of nutrition status, nutrition in pregnancy and lactation, nutrition in infancy and in aging, weight control, alternate food patterns, ethnic foods, and nutrition-related health problems. The department recommends this course for students in Allied Health programs. The course is offered in the Center for Self-Directed Learning only. Prerequisites None Gen. Ed.
