MUS-208 Songwriting

This course serves as an introduction to popular songwriting. Through writing original songs and examining a wide variety of popular music, students will examine concepts such as melody, lyrics, chord progressions, and structure. This course is designed for students with some music reading experience.
Prerequisites MUS-101 or MUS-103; minimum grade C, or exemption by placement examination; and ESL-088 and ESL-089; or RDG-090 and ENG-090; or ELL-101; minimum grade C, or exemption by placing into higher-level courses
