The Theatre program provides a comprehensive foundation in Theatre Arts. This program prepares students to transfer to four-year colleges or universities to seek bachelor’s degrees. Students may also choose to work in the theatre, film/television industry upon program completion. With a focus on preparing students to enter the workforce, the program encourages skill development in several areas and presents ample opportunity to apply these skills collaboratively.
Core courses introduce students to pillars of theatre studies, including acting, stagecraft, and theatre history. Students gain practical experience through a sequence of Theatre Practicum courses, where they apply their skills in full-scale production settings. Advanced coursework in acting refines students’ performance techniques, while electives allow them to pursue individual interests in depth. At the end of their studies, students focus their knowledge and skills towards job acquisition and establishing a sustainable creative future. By combining technique, hands-on practice, and historical context, the Theatre program equips students with the creative and professional tools needed for success in theatre & film/television, as well as in corporate and educational settings.

Graduates will be well prepared to continue their studies in advanced degree programs or apply their skills within the industry. Although performance and directing roles can be competitive and may involve freelance or contract work, specialized skills in stage management or technical areas offer steady opportunities. The foundational skills gained through this course of study will prepare graduates to be useful supportive collaborators within the industry while they build their networks and aim to grow into creative leadership roles. Theatre graduates possess valuable skills-public speaking, creativity, collaboration, and adaptability-that apply across fields. While some pursue acting, directing, or technical roles in theatre and film, others find fulfilling work in areas such as arts administration, drama therapy, and arts education. Emerging digital roles in content creation, voice acting, and media production also benefit from a theatre background, as storytelling and presentation are key in these fields. Corporate roles, especially in training, team-building, and public relations, are also accessible to theatre majors who excel in communication and facilitation.
