ECO-220 Environmental Economics This course introduces economic approaches to problem-solving in the context of contemporary environmental issues and policies. Students learn to apply economic models to analyze energy sustainability and environmental systems in local and global contexts. Topics covered will include: environmental externalities and market failure; economic assessment of environmental damages; economics of sustainable development; cost-benefit analysis; valuation of environmental resources. Students will apply theoretical frameworks in economics to analyze policies and practices related to environmental issues including pollution control, natural resource use, and climate change. This course meets the General Education requirement for Community and Cultural Contexts. Prerequisites ENV-105 or ENV-110 or ENV-111 or ENV-113 or ENV-115 or ENV-120 or ECO-201 or ECO-202 ; minimum grade C Gen. Ed. Course Yes Mass Transfer Course Yes Credits: 3
