THR-131 Acting for Theatre I Intended for Theatre Majors or students who plan on taking higher level acting courses, this foundational course delves into the craft of acting for the stage. Through studio exercises and reflective work, students establish a fundamental understanding of how an actor uses the voice, body, and imagination in creating a performance. Students develop an awareness of inner impulses and how to make them the basis for spontaneous interaction with others. Students use acquired skills to build characters, analyze given circumstances, interpret dialogue, and set the foundation for more advanced scene study. Prerequisites ELL-101 ; or RDG-090 and ENG-090 ; or exemption by placement testing, minimum grade C. Gen. Ed. Course No Mass Transfer Course Yes Credits: 3
