SWK-227 Equity & Cultural Wealth in Social Work Practice This course examines social work’s historical and current commitment to social justice as related to oppressed groups in a multicultural society. Students will enhance understanding of and appreciation for diversity in self and others. This course is design to address issues of power, inequality, privilege, and resulting oppression. Focus will be on the experiences of oppressed groups in the U.S. in order to understand their strengths, needs, and responses. Course content is sensitive to human diversity, specifically including materials on race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical challenges, spirituality, and socioeconomic factors as they affect human behavior and life span development. Prerequisites SWK-101 ; minimum grade C Gen. Ed. Course No Mass Transfer Course No Credits: 4
