VMA-225 Painting Concepts

This studio course provides intermediate instruction to students that possess the basic painting skill set framed by VMA221. Through observational painting, students will continue to increase their facility with heavy body paints while learning advanced techniques and employing digital media as a painting medium. This course also serves as an introduction to portraiture and figure painting while providing a framework for students to begin experimenting with personal aesthetics (style). They will exercise their visual problem- solving skills and increase their critical vocabulary through group critiques and individual meetings. This course will help them begin building their own sustainable painting practice.
