LIT-250 Black Women in Literature

This course examines literature by and about Black women from diverse cultural backgrounds. We will investigate the intersections and divergent experiences of Black women across gender, class, sexuality, ideology, as well as the influence of colorism. Our exploration of novels, short stories, poetry, creative non-fiction, music, and drama will help us to analyze how these cultural categories attempt to define Black womanhood.
